Artist Statement
My work explores the emancipation journey of African women through portraiture and mixed-media storytelling. Using oil and acrylic on canvas, pencil on Fabriano paper, gold jewelry, and African fabrics, I honor the historical narratives and societal impact of women. Rooted in research, my art reflects on gender representation, justice, and agency. Gold jewelry symbolizes regality, while the colors in my Sheroes Rands series draw from South African currency to connect themes of worth and economic power. Through visual storytelling, I seek to celebrate resilience and inspire transformative change.
Vision Statement
Koranges Art (Pty) Ltd envisions a world where visual storytelling ignites meaningful conversations, challenges societal norms, and empowers women. With a strong commitment to ending social injustices through artwork, I strive to create lasting social, economic and political impact by preserving historical narratives, inspiring self-discovery, and fostering a deeper appreciation for African stories.
Mission Statement
Koranges Art (Pty) Ltd seeks to respond to societal ills related to gender-based violence, and gender inequality through visual art. By serving communities with thought-provoking artwork, I aim to inspire hope, challenge harmful beliefs, and encourage positive behavioral change. Through exhibitions, collaborations, speaking engagements and educational initiatives, I bridge art with social consciousness, ensuring accessibility and engagement across diverse communities. Rooted in authenticity, the Koranges Art mission is to amplify untold stories, preserve heritage, and transform perspectives through creative expression.
