Tawhida Ben Cheikh (1909–2010) was a Tunisian physician and the first female doctor in North Africa. A pioneer in women's healthcare, she specialized in gynecology and worked to improve maternal and reproductive health. She also played a key role in Tunisia’s family planning movement, advocating for women's rights in medicine and society. She is one of the only three women in Africa that have ever appeared on banknote before.
