Rose Chibambo (1928–2016) was a Malawian politician and activist who played a key role in Malawi’s independence movement. She was the first woman to hold a cabinet position in Malawi and a founding member of the Malawi Congress Party. A strong advocate for women's rights, she endured imprisonment for her activism and remained dedicated to social justice. She is one of the only three women in Africa to have ever appeared on a banknote.
