Part of the Reflections of a Queen series, this mixed-media portrait honours Harriet Tubman, an African American abolitionist and freedom fighter who courageously led enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad. Incorporating vibrant orange tones, gold embellishments and a coin-inspired composition, the artwork celebrates Tubman's extraordinary courage, unwavering faith in God and commitment to liberation. Her words, featured in the artwork, reflect the profound role of spirituality in her journey. Through this portrait, I honour Tubman's enduring legacy while advocating for the recognition of Black women's contributions to history, freedom and social transformation.
